BACnet / IP

The protocol of building automation and BMS

BACnet / IP is the standard for building management systems — HVAC, lighting, energy meters, access control. Wiman is engineering a dedicated BACnet IP ↔ Modbus converter so industrial-grade gateways can drop into BMS networks without protocol translation headaches.

Where it is used

  • HVAC chillers, AHUs, VAVs and BMS controllers
  • Energy meters with BACnet output in commercial buildings
  • Smart-building dashboards that speak BACnet natively
  • Mixed BACnet + Modbus deployments needing a bridge

How Wiman supports it

Converter (engineering) · BACnet IP ↔ Modbus RTU/TCP bridge

  • Read AI/AV/BV objects on BACnet network, expose as Modbus registers
  • Whoami / Who-Has device discovery on the BACnet/IP network
  • UDP default port 47808 (0xBAC0), configurable
  • In active development — engineering samples available on request
  • Roadmap: BACnet MS/TP variant for field-bus integration

Integration tip

Talk to engineering about your BMS controller model and object list — we are validating against common HVAC equipment now.

In active engineering

There is no shipping BACnet / IP product in the catalogue yet — we are validating against real-world equipment now. Pilot units and early-access firmware are available for projects where BACnet / IP is on the spec.
